Speaker: Jon Gogan - STARS Air Ambulance
Topic: IN THE BUSINESS OF SAVING LIVES - WE ARE ALL STARS
Jon has been a captain and developed as a leader with STARS for nearly 20
years. During his tenure with STARS he helped develop the Winnipeg base as
Provincial Director in Manitoba and worked in partnership with First Responders
as the Alberta Outreach coordinator. Prior to flying he received a Bachelor of
Kinesiology degree in Sports Science from The University of New Brunswick,
with a strong focus in Forensics.
His University summers were spent working on Eastern Canada’s waterways and
oceans with the Canadian Coast Guard Inshore Rescue Program. While studying
French as a second language at l’Université du Québec à Chicoutimi, in
preparation for the RCMP, he was introduced to commercial aviation.
The rest, as they say, is history.
He has spent the past 27 years flying across our Country with extensive time in
Canada’s Arctic region and BC on projects with National Geographic, The Nature
of Things and the NASA Mars rover project near the Devon Island Crater.
Following his time in Canada’s far north he worked for 3 years in Ontario’s Air
Ambulance program before moving his family west to work with STARS. His
current work focus is Director for Provincial Operations at STARS for the Central,
Northern and North Eastern BC area. He continues to fly for STARS, support
PTSI initiatives for first responders, consults with film companies on helicopter
safety and realism, dabbles in commercial voice over work, and most importantly
focuses on being a dad.
We hope you can make it!
Cheers,
